Bloomfield, NJ
Bloomfield College, a private school in central NJ, has a long term plan to revitalize their campus. They wanted to combine the existing student center that housed an tiny student store store, located within a century old townhouse and was inadequate for the rising enrollment, with the new flagship library adjacent to it.
Tony Kowidge, was the Project Manager of the IS&L Architecture Studio team to transform the space between the two buildings. Working with an IS&L partner he participated in the design of a new two story entry with a canopy that tied into the historic brick of the old building, and creating a working circulatory flow to the existing library. The final design allowed for a new 2000sf student store, a 1500sf dance studio, and a 2000sf skylight lit art studio, as well as new staff offices.
