The Opportunity Center is dedicated to improving the lives of adults with mental and physical challenges. The 1985 Center was expanded by the Ives Group Architects / Planners at which time a two-story addition was constructed with a large multi-use room and an elevator serving all levels. Exterior ramps were provided to make the facility accessible to all. The project was done in conjunction with Bernard Hersh, AIA an architect and also a former Mayor of the Borough of Fair Lawn. The design was presented to the Planning Board and a parking lot was approved in the front yard. The Opportunity Center provides a day time environment for those with autism, mental disabilities, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.
In 2013 Nadine Kaiser the Executive Director of the Opportunity Center returned to the Ives Architecture Studio, located in the historic Radburn Building, to perform additional renovations. This completed a 28 year architectural connection with the Ives team and this unique facility.
